Other Baseball News:

The Pittsburgh Pirates broke a record yesterday.

The Pirates, unable to compete in the big money market of signing high priced free agents have spent what money they do have in other ways, namely the Major League Baseball entry draft.

On Sunday, the Pirates completed the record breaking signing of sixth-round pick Zack Von Rosenberg.

Rosenberg, a Louisiana high school pitcher was paid $1.2 million to turn pro and not pitch for national champion Louisiana State University.

It's the most money paid to any draft pick below the first round.

Watch out if you're playing the Chicago White Sox.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was quoted by the Associated Press on Sunday and stated the following:

"Yesterday I get upset, they hit one guy and they throw in into another guy. I got upset. I know for a fact they're not throwing at nobody, but enough is enough,"

"I have Konerko bruised all over the place. Around the league, be careful because we're going to hit people. I don't care if I get suspended because I need to protect my players."

"If I see someone hit my player, and I know they hit him on purpose it's two guys going down. I don't care if I get suspended,"

"I rather have me suspended for two games than have my players on the DL for 30 days."

The Chicago White Sox are fifth in the major leagues this season in getting hit by pitches at 45 times.

The Cleveland Indians own the major league leading mark with 65 hit by pitches.

Finally, the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-2 on Sunday night in thrilling fashion.

The Yankees completed a four game sweep of the Red Sox to take a five and a half game lead atop the American League East.
