It's Official. Alex Rios joins Chicago White Sox.

Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Alex Rios is now a member of the Chicago White Sox.

News arose earlier this week that an unannounced team had claimed Rios on waivers from Toronto.

That news was made official today as the Toronto Blue Jays sent their once prized outfielder to the White Sox for nothing in a payroll dump.

Toronto Blue Jays General Manager J.P Ricciardi announced the move 30 minutes before gametime in Toronto's matchup tonight in New York.

Rios, currently batting .264AVG, with 14HR, & 62 RBI in 108 games signed a seven year contract with the Blue Jays in April of 2008 guaranteeing the outfielder $68,835,000.

Rios is owed $60 million between 2010 & 2014, plus a $1 million buyout or $13.5 million club option for 2015.

By sending Rios to the White Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays free up a very large chunk of payroll to possibly add more offensive depth for their 2010 playoff run.

Rios' career major league numbers are: .285AVG, 81HR, 395RBI, 112SB in 3017AB in 809G.
