Oakland Athletics 2 (W 44-60)

That was followed by a three run double off the bat of Alex Rios, to clear the bases which were loaded.

In total, the Jays scored all seven runs, on 10 hits off of Mazzaro.

Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero wasn't at his best, but pitched well enough to get the win, as the Toronto offense was the big difference in this game.

Blue Jays News:

Blue Jays closer Scott Downs was put on the disabled list. Downs was placed on the DL on Sunday, after aggravating an injury to his left big toe in Saturday night's game.

Jeremy Accardo, who was sent to Triple A Las Vegas on Saturday to make room for newly acquired Josh Roenicke, was recalled to take Downs' place in the bullpen.

Jason Frasor will take over the closer's duties while Downs is on the disabled list.

Josh Roenicke made his Blue Jays debut yesterday. Roenicke pitched a scoreless eighth inning, walking one and striking out two.

Blue Jays shortstop Marco Scutaro got his second day off of the season yesterday, resting a sore heel.

John McDonald played shortstop in his place and made a dazzling diving catch on a groundball up the middle, in the bottom of the first inning, to rob Kurt Suzuki of a hit, and force a double play.

Other Baseball News:

Boston's newly acquired first baseman/catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez went 5-6 with a double and four runs batted yesterday in an 18-10 rout of the Baltimore Orioles, at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

New York Yankees outfielder Melky Cabrera hit for the cycle in yesterday's Yankees win over the Chicago White Sox. Cabrera was the first Yankee player to hit for the cycle since Tony Fernandez accomplished the feat on September 3rd 1995.
