Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter/outfielder Adam Lind's chances of making the trip to St.Louis this year as a first time All-Star have fallen short.
Lind was beaten out by Detroit Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge for the final spot on the American League All-Star roster.
Shane Victorino won the vote for the National League portion of the fan voting and will join Inge in St.Louis.
Lind has had an All-Star quality first half of 2009, posting the following offensive numbers: .309AVG, 19HR, 59RBI, 102H, 26 doubles, 50 runs scored, .561 slugging percentage in 330AB.
Lind has had one of the best all around player performances offenseively in the American League.
Lind ranks 10th in the AL in home runs, 12th in batting average, 6th in RBI, 25th in runs scored, 7th in hits, 4th in doubles, & 6th in slugging percentage.
Let's hope Adam Lind can continue to hit the ball well, and perhaps earn himself a Silver Slugger award at the end of the 2009 season.
Lind is obviously one of the future stars of the Blue Jays batting order and it is always a pleasure to watch this young man hit.
Best of luck for next year's All-Star game Adam, you've got my vote!
